Introducing LaKresha Williams, a 2025 Ward 2 City Council candidate for College Park, Georgia. The daughter of proud parents, Vernon and Patricia Williams, LaKresha was born in Gary, Indiana. She spent most of her life in Nashville, TN, where she learned the value of hard work, and perseverance, and developed an affinity for helping others. At an early age, LaKresha discovered her gift in math which later developed into a love for accounting. This passion served her well as she mentored and tutored students in the area of mathematics throughout her early adult years.After losing both of her parents by the age of 23, LaKresha, like so many other families, took on the arduous task of supporting her siblings and ensuring that a greater quality of life was achieved for her and her immediate family. During those challenging times, LaKresha also embarked upon pursuing her educational aspirations because she knew that education often served as the gateway to greater opportunities. This ambition and zeal to achieve something greater catapulted her to pursue and receive her undergraduate degree in business management and master’s degree in accounting. Securing these credentials has aided in LaKresha being the successful businesswoman she is today, specializing in revenue management, software engineering, and providing effective software solutions designed to streamline workflows and automation of manual processes.Her tragedies and triumphs have equipped her to handle the rigors associated with any task because she is solutions-oriented. Just as she fought for her success and the survival of her family, she is poised to fight for you. As a current resident of College Park, LaKresha unselfishly engages with the community at large to ensure that the focus remains on the viability and vitality of each community, Block by Block. LaKresha undoubtedly believes that the best solutions to complex community challenges result from engaging those who are impacted by these challenges. This requires acute listening first and devising practical solutions that work long-term, creating personal and community resilience and sustainability.LaKresha’s voice is necessary for such a time as this because there is a need for change in order for our city to grow. She is relatable, forward-thinking, solutions-oriented, and most importantly - concerned about your well-being. Her campaign is focused on YOU and building a government infrastructure that works for the people and not for personal gain or interest. LaKresha is running for Ward 2 Council Woman to work on behalf of you with critical focuses on:- Public and community safety- Combatting slumlords and advocating for tenant rights- Prioritizing Six West DevelopmentLaKresha’s life trajectory has prepared her for this very moment. Her faith has kept her rooted and grounded in her purpose which is to fight for safer neighborhoods, workforce development, and economic growth. She is engaged with the community and understands the unique challenges of the City of College Park. Her business acumen coupled with her technical expertise and advocacy makes her a prime candidate we need in office to tackle these critical issues.
